Program Overview

The Ojibwe Language Certificate prepares students to develop proficiency in Ojibwemowin through immersive, community-centered learning. Students move beyond memorizing vocabulary and grammar to using the language naturally in everyday conversation, teaching, and community life.

This certificate reflects WETCC’s commitment to preserving Anishinaabe language, culture, and identity while preparing students to become educators, language advocates, and community leaders.

Students learn through immersive instruction, cultural experiences, and hands-on practice that builds confidence and fluency. The program prepares students for Eminence testing, supports careers in language education and cultural programming, and helps expand the use of Ojibwemowin in homes, schools, and community spaces.

Build Language Through Immersion

The Ojibwe Language Certificate combines progressive language instruction with cultural learning to develop speaking, listening, reading, and teaching skills. Students build fluency through immersive coursework while deepening their understanding of Anishinaabe history, culture, and traditional knowledge.
